Pentax has a new film camera (its first for 20 years!) and its…weird. Half frame 37mm focal length (in full frame terms) It’s in portrait mode normally It has zone focusing, but also focuses a bit It’s not for me (my olympus mju ii is great) but I’m glad to see a new option. @JohnBrady So one video I watched speculated that was a reason, plus using half frame means you can have twice as many shots on each roll. I don't think the old Olympus trip cameras, which are half frame too, have a portrait view finder though which makes me wonder how they mounted the film.

@ChrisJWilson I used to have a Diana Mini and an Olympus Pen EE and both were half-frame cameras and a lot of fun, especially being able to take so long between changing rolls of film.

@danalcantara I was surprised at first but I can see how that totally makes sense for people who've grown up with smart phones. 1. More photos 2. portrait 3. Enough detail for instagram I always forget about lomography cameras which are still being made.
