My only concern with Markdown that it’s a scripting language and has its own learning curve. So for building a website for someone who is a beginner, that reduces our options taking out all file based CMS.

@mina It's not a scripting language but a markup language (think HTML vs JavaScript), the good news is there's a lot of markdown to HTML converters out there so if a CMS doesn't support markdown you could convert it. And it a CMS doesn't support HTML then run quickly ;)
@rosemaryorchard yup! I agree. I used the wrong wording here. Still the issue for me is entry barrier. I can’t develop or deliver a CMS that’s built using MD. It’s not user friendly for those are not actually writers.
@mina I'm not sure Markdown is less friendly than HTML, though it's not as user friendly as rich text - but in my personal opinion if you're going to write something for the web you ought to learn the basics of both Markdown and HTML - though I know plenty of people who don’t know either :)
@mina @rosemaryorchard There are also apps that will take a Markdown file and output an HTML file to upload to your CMS. MultiMarkdownComposer is one (though it could be overkill). Marked 2 will do so as well and it let's you use your preferred text editor.
@rosemaryorchard Is @ttscoff on micro.blog yet? I'd love to have him start brewing up magic in his lab. :D
@Bruce @rosemaryorchard Yes, that’s a great tool, I like Marked 2. But still the concern is how to get somebody who isn't familiar with MD to work on a MD powered CMS. Those types of CMSs are way simple and powerful, but very complex when it comes to maintaining them.
@mina @rosemaryorchard This is probably still way too complicated, but set up WordPress on a managed service and have them just use MarsEdit to write? :D
Gotta get @danielpunkass some moola!
@Bruce personally, I am trying to avoid WP whenever possible. Teaching MD is easier than maintaining a WP instance.
@Bruce not my target though. That’s a blog, a CMS is more general with different content types.
@Bruce Yes, you can remove the feed under Account → Edit Feeds and the posts won't show up in the timeline, but you can still publish to the blog.
@manton Thanks, Manton. I really apprexciate the flexibility of micro.blog in these respects, and am just trying to figure out which combination of cross-posting works best for me. I do not expect you to do this — you hsve enough on your plale already — but I was just commenting yesterday that the perfect setup for me would be for posts of <280 characters to go to Twitter and posts of >280 characters to go to WordPress.
