@resurrexia @Brad Itā€™s the Laban Skeleton, in a rainbow finish. They offer the pen in different colors also. āœØšŸ–‹ļø

@resurrexia @Brad I am not sure about Labanā€™s nib source(s). Unfortunately the medium nib that came with the pen didnā€™t perform very well. I bought a couple different nib units (F and EF, since I wasnā€™t sure how the nib widths would compare) and neither of them worked well, either. I did try tuning them a bit, but it didnā€™t help (Iā€™m not an expert, though). I ended up replacing the nib with a Kaigelu ā€œlong bladeā€ nib which works great! You can see how it looks on my writing sample.

@resurrexia @Brad The long blade nib seems like an architect grind which works great with my writing style.

@Brad Oh, oops, I picked the wrong account to tag, @penaddict. šŸ˜…šŸ˜… I knew I was following you already, but couldnā€™t remember your handle.

@jezlyn @Brad

Great blog post. The Laban Skeleton has been on my wish list for two years or so. Can I ask you if you pulled the Kaigelu nib from another pen or bought it separately? I also like the color scheme of the Iced Caramel Latte. Another pen that got away. LOL

But I have my eyes on a store exclusive that works for me IF I like the Schmidt nib. Both pens with Schmidt nibs I own so far aren't favorites of mine. Maybe they're a lower quality tier for cheaper pens? How does yours write?

@jezlyn @Brad that's a massive pity, considering the price of the pen itself. It's kind of offputting to charge a premium (yes I know the design is unique) but not get the basic writing function down pat. I'll have to investigate the other rainbow pen makers like Montegrappa and Monteverde I suppose.

@resurrexia @Brad I think if you can get the pen from a store with a good return policy, if you donā€™t want to have to tune the nib yourself, itā€™s worth trying to get the pen. I was also using shimmer inks at the time, which probably worsened the problems I was seeing. I also am not sure if others with this pen have had similar issues. Iā€™m trying not to sour you completely on the pen, as itā€™s really cool! You might get a good nib when you buy.

@ktowngirl @Brad I bought the Kaigelu nibs from Amazon, in a pack of two. They came with feeds, but I canā€™t remember if thereā€™s an option not to get the feeds. I think I used the nib itself with the feed that came with the Laban pen. IIRC, you can get the nibs from a seller on Etsy, too, but since they ship from China, it takes a while to arrive if youā€™re in the US. I actually bought a couple from Etsy before realizing Amazon had them, too. #impatient

@jezlyn @Brad

Thanks. I'll have a look at what's possible locally. I'm not based in the US.

@jezlyn @Brad unfortunately the return policy thing is probably gonna be an issue, and AFAIK none of the pen stores in Singapore stock Laban. I have many many more pretty pens to go after though!
