@manton is there any info on the Markdown importer? I’d like to bring in posts from my Kirby blog as well as the microblog posts I made on my Kirby site. both are now defunct. I see there is a Markdown import, but in your book you also mention a script for Markdown importing (https://ka.micro.blog/2019/01/01/microblog-import-script.html). Whats the difference if any?

@AlexKucera There's not much documentation on the importer. I would start with the built-in Markdown import and see if it works for you, and only use the script if there is something you need to customize. The nice thing about the importer is that if there is a "url" field in the front matter of your Markdown posts, Micro.blog will redirect from those older URLs automatically.

@manton I’ll give it a try tomorrow. Does the importer create a separate category or feed (like the Twitter import)? Would be nice to have some sort of filtered access to the imports if only to delete them in case the import screws something up.

@manton I tried to import some markdown files from my blog, but no posts appear. is there any kind of feedback or status I can check for error messages?

@AlexKucera I recommend trying the import on a test blog. If you don’t have one, you can create it for free under Design → Edit Custom Themes → New Test Blog.

@AlexKucera Check the log at Account → View logs. That should show errors if it ran into any problems.

@manton I get an invalid date on import. what date string formatting is it looking for? my dates tend to look like this „Time: 2017-09-10-23-09-12“, „Date: 2018-04-23 08:00:00“

@AlexKucera It accepts a few formats, but not that time example… `Date: 2018-04-23 08:00:00 should work, though. Lemme know if it doesn't.

@manton sadly it doesn‘t seem to work. I tried Date: „2018-04-23 08:00:00“ as well as just „Date: 2018-04-23“. Both give me invalid date errors.

@AlexKucera Sorry for the delay... Yes, I've looked at it. I'll reply via email but the main problem is that all the front matter fields like title and date need to go at the top of the file.

@AlexKucera No apology necessary, it actually helps me to be reminded. I miss things sometimes unfortunately.

@manton I have updated my test file to your specs and now import is working flawlessly. I guess I need to rewire my Markdown files now. I wish I hadn‘t let my scripting skills lapse. A bit of Python text conversion would have come in handy right now. :)

@manton I am still struggling wit my imports unfortunately. I managed to import my short posts, but my longer articles throw an invalid date again. The only difference I can discern is the added title in the frontmatter. Could you have another look please? Zip file was sent to help@micro.blog on 11. August.
