@miljko This is true. I don't think I remember the last time I searched for an app to fulfill a specific need. I've always found apps via recommendations I read elsewhere.

@miljko Before installing free apps I check the list of IAPs. It’s the quickest way to avoid bad apps. It’s a bit hidden, but it exists on the App Store and Mac App Store. And it is consistently placed, so you know where to find it.

@pratik This is the way. The only reason I went with the search is that it was completely outside of what I usually oder. His older sisters were fine with TinyLabs, Toca, and Sago Mini, and those are true and tested. I don't know of a MacStories equivalent for toddler shark games, unfortunately.

@yurkevich This is great advice for screening, thanks! Would have saved me a few Gb of downloads.

I was surprised that Ubisoft had junk apps with $99.99 jewel purchases. And that some developers who have Apple Arcade games have dumpy non-arcade versions with the same business model.
