I’m yet to find any smart home appliance, beyond occasionally calling out for music to play or the TV to turn itself off, that interests me.

Anyone out there think there’s something essential I’m missing?

@yorrike Great question. I really want something good for the kitchen, so we're going to give one of the Echo devices a go at some point. Other than that the HomePod devices look interesting, if only because I trust Apple regarding privacy, audio quality, and we are mostly converted from non-Apple to all-Apple.

As far as lights, door locks, kitchen appliances, and the like... nope no thank you. These so-called smart devices are nowhere near good enough for me to consider that sort of thing.

@simonwoods That's where I am too. They all seem like a lot of hassle for no discernible benefit.

@yorrike We have a 2 story house and use them as intercoms and for announcements. In the kitchen for timers and adding things to our grocery lists. We have a few smart bulbs and switches that we trigger with them as well.

@yorrike I can see the potential, as @mcg mentioned; Matthew I can definitely see those specific features being great in a larger space with multiple people in the home. It's currently just the two of us in a small bungalow so we don't really get those benefits.
