@dswanson I have! It's interesting; some passages are sublime. Ultimately I prefer VC's critical-analytical mind and voice at work, even of his own fiction. (I feel this way about Jonathan Franzen too, actually.)

@willtmonroe I get it — though my husband still reads the NYer religiously, but I don't anymore. Feels overall less challenging, in a good way, than say Hedgehog Review or New Atlantis. Still: VC's the real deal.
