@samgrover Lovely photos. And yup, visiting the Taj either in the early morning or at dusk is the best time to see the effect of light on the marble. It was still quite crowded, though but not surprised.

BTW did you know that Shah Jahan's grave in the sanctum is the only thing that breaks the symmetry of the Taj?

@samgrover these are beautiful photos Sam. I can just imagine the color temperature changing during the sunset. Would you recommend always hiring a guide?

@whlteXbread Yea I tried my best to show the changing color in the photos especially when they’re all together like this.

For a place like Taj I think hiring a guide is great value. They provide nice context and stories for the place, even with myths mixed in sometimes. Not to mention the smoothness with which we were able to navigate the several security booths, ticket counters, etc. They’re there for a (generous) fixed amount of time but you can always linger on if you want to stay and explore more.
