Not a good time to be renewing commercial electricity contracts. Prices going through the roof which is going to have a big impact on small companies this year.

@wfm My personal electricty bill has increased by 300% in two years. It’s (maybe) nice that we move away from gasoline for automobiles, but I can’t help thinking that’s one of the main reasons the bill have increased so much. I don’t have a car at all, and I don’t need one, but I have other bills to pay. 😥
@odd its really having a big impact on people and companies. I've just this morning realised costs are doubling for our family business. For much of Europe, gas supplies and geopolitics are having a big impact and you have to look to the East to figure out whats going on. Here in Ireland, I think gas generates about 40% of our electricity supply. We're moving to renewables but not agressively enough.
@wfm That’s rough. I hear Sweden are talking about building new Nuclear Power-plants. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Do you have nuclear power in Ireland? Here in Norway I think we’re mostly covered by hydroelectric and wind turbines. We export a lot. We also export a lot of oil, yet we have some of the most expensive gas and electricity. Someone’s getting richer, and it’s definitely not me. 🤷🏻♂️
@odd nope we don't have nuclear. We have quite a lot of wind and big plans for more offshore, but the wind has been quiet so far this Winter. If we could figure out how to use tides to generate power cheaply, it would be a game changer.
