@vladcampos when the systems become sophisticated enough maybe, but for now I'll keep on organising.

@joshsam Same here. For the moment, I do not see myself giving up organizing my notes. But considering that I already let Google do almost all the work when it comes to organizing my photos, I think I might end up getting pretty comfortable with the idea of not organizing information at some point in the future.

@vladcampos funny I was thinking about how photos are organised this morning. Mum used to have a photo album. But most people, when we used to do physical photos, put them in a box (usually a shoe box). If they were really organised they’d put a date, place and people on the back. Mostly not though. I like the organic feel of that. You could uncover anything due to the lack of organisation. Saying that I couldn’t do without my Apple photos organisation and metadata.

@joshsam My mom had boxes, then she moved to albums with plastic pockets. My father, however, was obsessed with slide projecting. He had a carousel for each trip, and looking at pictures was always fun, similar to going to the movies. It would be wonderful to buy a vintage projector and revisit those moments, but no one knows what happened to the carousels.

I also had experience with printed photography for a good number of years and kept everything in albums with plastic pockets, like my mom. But similar to what happened to my father's slides, I don't know where most of my albums are. How is it that these physical things seem to simply despair and nobody notices it happening? Anyway, maybe that's why I'm so obsessed with backing up my digital pictures.

@vladcampos maybe these things disappearing is what is meant to happen. To be discovered years later by a relative, or someone finding a box in the loft of a house.

It's a shame you can't find your old photos.

I would be gutted if I lost my digital photos - like you I back them up religiously.
