@matigo yes, it’s shared hosting. Tbh, I’m not sure whether they’re stripping the http headers, it’s just the only thing I can think of to try when I got those error messages from Quill/OwnYourGram/Micropub.rocks
@vishae The error message says that the server is running nginx, which is an alternative piece of software to Apache. The suggestions in the FAQ won't be of help as nginx doesn't use an .htaccess file.
@pyrmont gah! 😫 See how I just poke at the problem with a stick and hope for the best? I’m surprised I even got the site up and running to begin with.
@vishae @pyrmont I think that must be the cache or load-balancer or whatever that BlueHost is sitting in front of the actual websites, or they’re doing some on-the-fly translation of .htaccess
, because I have a whole bunch of custom .htaccess
rules that work fine—I banned a new spammer IP just the other day (also, in Serena’s write-up, the behavior/error messages changed when she added different .htaccess
rules).
I do see a Server: nginx/1.12.2
header on ardisson.org that I know I didn’t previously see (although it’s been some time since I last watched my HTTP headers…).
