My iPhone has taken to having phantom touches and doing things by itself. It appears it might be time to replace my XS…

@philbowell As a fellow Xs owner I can understand this. Mine has shown its age in a few ways recently. I really need to replace my battery at least. The rumours over the 15 make me think I can hold out (USB-C, 3nm processor, dynamic island on the regular phone), but I've been glancing at a 13 mini too. (also when I went to India with my colleagues who all had newer phones, I was amazed at the difference in nighttime photography!)

@ChrisJWilson that’s the exact reason I’ve been trying to hold off upgrading now. My battery is just about ok, but when the phone starts trying to do things by itself (it put itself in jiggle mode the other day) it makes me wonder if it will last until then. L

@philbowell my old X had this same issue, and it’s a known one too - they used to replace the screens if it exhibited phantom touches. Not any more though.

I upgraded to the 12 mini that year. Happy with it. Especially the form factor.

@vincent well that sucks. I suppose it is 4 years old and it’s only just started so I can’t complain really.

@philbowell I think you should certainly go to Apple service to see if they still replace the screen on the XS. Might still be covered. IDK, 4 years for an expensive item of tech is not long…
