In other Apple beta news. macOS Ventura beta 7 dropped. This is the default screen it's loading in the Music app after the reboot.

I've given up with filing "radars", they never answer or fix. Adding songs still stops my music from playing... so many years. Meh.

@vincent Removing streaming as a crucial part of my music library has been akin to when I removed the big social networks as a part of my online identity.

When I think about Apple Music Family: £15 x 12 months each year, and just how much actual music I can get for that — from multiple sources! — it is seriously a no-brainer.

Streaming is now a pure luxury as far as we're concerned. As such it is entirely disposable, and as time passes I become less tolerant of Apple's efforts to justify this cost.

@vincent Ugh, that app is utter garbage. Such a transformation from when iTunes was a flagship product.

@samgrover it is garbage. It’s barely functional. iTunes was amazing back in the day. Guess they’re not so serious about music anymore.

@SimonWoods for this I am not yet ready partially because the way music is consumed in the household.

That would be a multi year planned shift. So I’d need to think about how to do something like that.

I used Spotify for a long time before streaming music was on Apple’s radar. I wish that it just works (extremely well).

@odd ha, yes! I’ve seen this before… there is also an Apple Music third party app somewhere but I can’t remember what it’s called now. Looked great also.

@vincent Yep, it's a big operation. We're lucky in that we didn't get too deeply involved with streaming but the friction is there in the change. Given that, it says a lot that even my wife has had enough with relying on this bad software and slow system; her first Apple product was an iPod from 20 years ago and that thing, well you know, it worked. A funny concept!
