Tidied up my phone a little today. Games are gone, any social stuff and others are gone (except Gluon). I’d like to keep it as a utility as best I can. I prefer the Watch, but that is too much tied to the phone… maybe in a few years.

@vincent Are you on the beta? I’ve been enjoying having different focus modes and home screens for different locations. I do like how minimal this home screen is.
@sku_b Yeah, I'm on the beta but actually haven't tried the different home options for different focus statuses. Although, I am pretty minimal, so I don't personally need to change the homescreen.
@vincent That’s awesome, I need to do this with my phone. Also agreed about the dependency on the phone to be a sticking point for owning the watch. It’s one of the reasons I’m still on the fence to ever getting one.
@vincent ooh nice wallpaper, is that a default option?
As soon as I have a computer I’m going to strip my phone right down in the same way; to help with this I’m going to get whatever the latest version of the Mini is. I’m going to use my current Watch until I’m happy with my general health and then go back to analogue only.
@pimoore when the day comes where the Apple Watch is truly independent… I’d probably never get a new phone again. Or any kinda connected digital watch actually. I can hope for that day. I’m certainly a fan of invisible/small technology to be a utility.
@simonwoods yeah, it’s a default wallpaper. With the phone, I don’t want to touch it unless I really have to. I have a love/hate relationship with it. It’s the Mini at the moment, and I am happy with it for sure… but I just look at humanity and want to cry (and I fall victim to that also - so trying my best). My computer, as it did in the early days before pocket computers, was the place it all happened. Want to go back to that model as best I can. A little connectivity via the Watch is perfect as it has very limited use, whilst being useful… without destroying your life.
@vincent Same here, I rarely make phone calls as it is, so if that functionality can just be fully in the watch for the odd time it’s needed that would be perfect. Bring the Fitness app to the iPad, and have all the necessary syncing available with it so people have the option to completely ditch their phones if they so choose.
@vincent Yep, sounds like a good idea. I enjoyed your follow-up long post about these ideas. I am sticking to my long term plan to avoid the always-on culture that people involved in technology are pushing hard.
