@vazquez I just read your post and found it so moving. Yes, expressing ourselves can be a struggle. Someone famous said a writer is someone who finds writing harder than everyone else! I hope you know you’re not alone, and from that can gain strength and courage to keep going.

@writingslowly I know this reply is late, but thank you for your response to my post. Sometimes it can be a struggle to also maintain the habit of both expressing and writing. Its good to know I'm not alone.

@vazquez I empathize with the struggle of getting over that wall! The really tough part is knowing that, once that first wall is conquered, there will be more to scale beyond it. Still, staying behind it (or going backwards) is a far worse fate.

Your post reminded me of some kind wisdom a previous graphic design director once gifted to me: Just as people fall in different places along the spectrum of introversion and extroversion, creative people also fall in different places along the spectrum of creating with others or creating alone.
Their advice helped me to understand that I struggled because I didn't fit into the stereotype of "artist who toils alone in their studio." I'm far more of a collaborative creator and I've learned that I need other people involved in order to truly be creative. Learning that scared me even more but it also allowed me to find the footholds I had been overlooking in order to climb that first wall. I still struggle with creating and sharing but now I expect the wall and know for certain that it is possible to make it over. I believe that you can make it over too.

@gregmoore Thank you for your comment (sorry so late!) That's an excellent point that I wish I knew when I was younger: to not only expect the wall, but know FOR CERTAIN that it is possible to make it over. Knowing that makes it easier to cope with.

@vazquez It’s nice to know that we’re not crazy. Hard things are hard.🙂
