February 24, 2025 - yesterday was my first time walking on this road during the day (usually I run here, and in the morning). The thing on the ground is a goal for the Kyrgyz game kok boru, in which men try to grab and throw a sheep carcass inside the goal while on horseback

a couple bare trees on the right; a kok boru goal (built up mound with tires around it); field in the foreground stretching into the background, where it meets with mountains

@val do they still use a carcass in areas or a mould ?

Love the view in the background

@val Hah! That phrase "sheep carcass" was definitely unexpected! 😵‍💫

@Munish I've never been close enough to tell for sure, but I assume they use a real sheep carcass

@val I had heard of this game before. It looks REALLY INTENSE! Those hills though. Wow, they lure you in. Beautiful!

@kimberlykg I believe there are other variations or names for this game in Central Asia. I think it's buzkashi in either Uzbekistan or Afghanistan. I'm curious to know if you had heard a name for this game (and which one) or just about the game

@val I had to double check because I hadn't seen the name written. Kok boru is the name I had heard previously, but only being played in Mongolia. I didn't know of other countries.

@kimberlykg Interesting, I had never heard about kok boru in Mongolia, but there are some similarities between Mongolian and Kyrgyz culture, both once being nomadic
