July 18, 2024 - a container with sand (and trash) at my school to put out fires. Does anyone have this at their schools? There was at least one fire extinguisher above this. My boyfriend said the sand is in case the fire extinguisher doesn’t work..
@val It’s also handy in the winter, if it’s slippery ice on the road, so one can toss some on the ground and hopefully get some traction.
@odd Is there a sand container like this in schools in your country? Despite being cold here in winter, I think our roads aren't affected by ice much, considering most of them are dirt roads. Also we have very dry winters here and get very little snow
@val Oh, I see. I’m used to it being sand containers in all hilly centres and governmental facilities in my country. Maybe it’s just for fires. Here where I live, they check (and may switch) fire extinguishers yearly because they don’t last forever, so if they don’t have that luxury, it totally makes sense.
