I took this photo tonight while leaving work at 18th and Market Streets in Philly. It doesn’t really show how thick the air was, and it’s only slightly better at home in Princeton. Be safe everyone.

A photo taken with an iPhone 14 Pro of Market Street in Philly, a dense haze hanging over the city as a result of Canadian wildfires.

@joeross I'm heading to Philly tomorrow for work and received a notice about the air there. I still want to do some sightseeing if I have time, but not sure how realistic that is with the air quality 🫤

@val @val Unless things get much worse in the morning, you should be able to see some sights, as long as you’re pretty close… but seriously, bring an N95/KN95, give yourself a time likit, one or two hours, and consult this page in the morning to get a good idea of what to expect for the day. Today was better than yesteday, so hopefully it’ll work out for you, even if it’s not ideal circumstances.
