@ronguest I feel your daughter's pain. It took me three times to finally parallel park correctly and pass the test. I think I've parallel parked twice in the forty years since then, so there is that.

@klandwehr I think parallel parking gets way too much emphasis on the driving test. Like you I have a few decades of driving and have to use the parallel park maneuver less than once a year.

@ronguest @klandwehr I agree! Though one reason why I rarely parallel park is because I actively avoid it. I will pay to park in a lot or garage even if it is more expensive or farther away from my destination. The instructor during my second try passed me even though I didn't parallel park 100% correctly. I was in my dad's truck and she said, "if you had been in a smaller vehicle, you would have gotten it" and thanks to that I passed my driving test the day before I moved to university. Which is just as well because my dad and I drove about an hour away from home just for the test (closer testing sites were fully booked)
