Rupee slips past 85/USD to all-time low

As FDI’s decline, the high remittances ($129 Billion in 2024) are keeping INR floating.

@stupendousman It's truly disturbing how much I spend on my trips to India. Granted that I can fortunately splurge but spending 2 Lakhs or so (excluding travel cost) over 3 weeks is a lot.

@pratik Its not much. A lot of it is just traveling between places and then khana/peena/gifts/artifacts etc. I dont know about other places, but Bangalore is expensive. India is not considered "low-cost" hiring centers anymore for a reason.

@pratik Haha, will have to itemize next time. I live near Nagpur and for most trips, arranging full day car transport to Nagpur cost 6000 or so. Multiply this by 4-6 times and it adds up.Good quality Indian clothes (wife, kids mainly) are expensive. A family dinner in decent restaurant is easily 10K

This! Throw in a few of those which is very normal the cost of just restaurants / occasional movie outings is crazy. @pratik
