So going to university with the goal to get a software developer job afterwards. Computer Science VS Applied Computer Science, does that even matter? Seems like applied computer science is a lot easier and more streamlined to actually writing code.

@Silas It matters less than having something you’ve coded that you can demo and show off. You might find some hiring firms that value the straight CS more highly, though, given their own biases and such.

Context: Been a hiring manager many times. Past bootcamp instructor. Loves helping junior devs.

@v Yea that seems like a thing in the CS world. What country are you in though? Here in germany pretty much degree = being qualified. Either that or you worked somewhere for like 5 years already. This is the land of certifications.
