@twelvety That is really tempting! Also, I’ve loved his photo blog for a while, ever since picking up my X100S, but hadn’t stopped by in a long time. Glad to find my way back via coincidence.
@alans Same here! I used to keep up with his work more regularly, so it’s nice to see it again. And yeah, I don’t need that printer, but I’m sure I could rationalize it for some reason. ;)
@alexjj I know, right? And did you see his update in the meantime? More good tips, and it makes it all the more tempting! :) www.laroquephoto.com/blog/2021...
@twelvety That was the clincher! I’m just doing a bit more googling and reading reviews before I get it. I only have a B&W laser for documents but the family complains about not being able to print colour. I’d like it for photos. The free smartphone photos is a nice selling point. Maybe one day they’ll decide to turn that off though…
@alexjj The notion of them turning off the free prints someday is what makes me want to get this gadget now and make the most of it! :)
@twelvety It’s ordered! People are going to be sick of all the photos I print out 😅 Also ordered some 300 gsm photo paper to test it out with.
@twelvety I will! Need to sort out my microblog and maybe even all the rest of my websites…but that’s painful…
@alexjj Two things: 1. I'm curious to know how your HP Tango working out? 2. I'm really enjoying your wiki!
@twelvety I’m liking it, I’ve printed off quite a few pictures to post to family and stick on the fridge. B&W photos so have a slight blue tinge but generally not noticeable unless compared side by side to a true B&W photo. Im imagining a blog post about it but I’m not good at actually writing in a blog!
Oh and here was me thinking no one was reading the wiki 😅
@alexjj Good to hear about the printer! I think I’m getting through enough boring home projects soon that I can justify buying one as a treat.
Yep, that’s what happens with wikis. You drop things in it thinking no one is reading it and then boom you find out people actually visit! Also, wikis tend to change how you think about blogging (at least for me), and before you know it they take over!
@twelvety I normally research new things to death, so buying it virtually on a whim was unusual. I have a slight worry that it was the wrong choice. I just don’t want to go and prove myself wrong! The free prints from app is probably the best part, and without that I think an ink tank printer might be better. I got 6 months of free prints from promos and I’ll probably go to the £2/month for 50 pages a month. Oh and HP tracks you via apps, so there’s that. But the joy of just printing photos is good 😊
@twelvety I recently printed a black and white photo using colour setting instead of grey scale. Was by mistake thinking it was a different picture, but I think it turned out better than with greyscale. No more slight blue tinge.
@alexjj The HP Tango arrived yesterday. I'll post some pictures of the prints later, but holy cow, what fun! I don't know why I waited so long to get it. I'm still getting the hang of the tweaks necessary in the HP Smart app to make color photos look a little warmer and less blue/magenta, but it's so cheap to experiment that it's not a burden. I think @jack needs one of these. 😬
@twelvety @alexjj I love hearing about people making prints! I do have a little Canon something-or-other, but I've fallen for making 8.5 x 11" prints on nice paper instead copingmechanism.com/2021/maki...
@twelvety woohoo! Hopefully HP are quick in the USA at sending out new cartridges. I went through my first set pretty quickly but they arrived quickly and then they sent out another set so I had some ready if it ran out. I've found amazon basics 6x4 to be great quality for random prints and popping in the mail to people. It's also turned into our everyday printer for stuff.
@alexjj @jack @twelvety Y'all know there's a referral program, right? 🤑 instantink.hpconnected.com/us/en/l/v...
@jack and even if you disagree with referral programs, there's usually a promo code to get a free month, FREEINK worked for me. But a quick google should find others.
@tullyhansen Yes! I used the one from Patrick Laroque's original blog post when I signed up, and it still worked!
