Midweek thoughts, partly inspired by a school-friend of mine who happens to be a comedian, Harry Pereira.

What actual purpose do voicenotes serve?

Calls for speaking to people. Texts/WhatsApps for short, sharp communication around said calls.

Casually questioning my whole digital existence here.

@jasraj Don’t use them myself, but one thing I learned when I was on jury duty a few years back: incarcerated people use them with contraband phones. I suppose they can record when they get privacy, and send when they have a signal.

And the corollary: police and prosecutors can use them as evidence!

@devilgate what a great use case… thank you for sharing! I’ve been on jury duty a couple of times. The second time was right before (and during) the UK going into the first COVID lockdown. Goodness, that seems like a lifetime ago now.
