I’m testing out transitioning from 1Password to iCloud Passwords with help from Simon Støvring and Ricky Mondello. So far, so good. 👌

@jarrod I’ve been wanting to do this.. but what are you using for other things, like passports or licenses? (Or you didn’t use 1Password for those)

@jarrod My passwords management would benefit by focusing on one solution instead of two (I'm using both).

@mako I think I’m going to use locked Apple Notes. But I hit a little snag last night: it doesn’t appear that locked notes can be shared, which is a bummer. I have hope since they’ve done shared passwords now, and those seem even more sensitive, but it’ll make the transition a little more rocky.

@kq I’d be happier with that too. But this shortcut goes a long way to smoothing the experience. Gives me an app icon, and quicker access via search. On iPhone, I could be convinced it is a separate app!

@numericcitizen Yeah… I’m not deleting or canceling 1Password yet. But I’m going to try to go without opening it and see what I like/dislike. My parents and wife rely on my 1P family plan, so it would be a big switch for them too.

@mako What a strange limitation. I'm not a heavy tags user, but another bummer nonetheless.

@jarrod I’ve thought about that, but wondered what would happen to passwords I share with family members?

@Alligator If they’re using an iPhone, you’ll be able to have shared groups of passwords using iCloud with iOS 17, much like 1P!

@jarrod Hmm makes me want to try switching. What do you do about needing to look up passwords for other devices?

@Alligator You can still reveal passwords to type them on other devices.
