Seth Godin reminded me today that “no one cares about the noise in our head (or the actions we take) nearly as much as we do”. That noise kept me wary of changing a few things with my setup till today. I pulled the plug and have changed how and where I write. Thanks, Seth!

@amit I was reading the same, and this has me rethinking of how I blog and how to present my website in general. I like the idea of a personal journal (it's how I treat my wwebsite), and will continue to write my thoughts on my site, but have them only visible to me. Still need to implement a "journal" though, to make that happen.

@vincent Yeah, we think too much about our changes. No one else does. Many won’t even realise. So I would suggest get that journal in place. On using site as journaling posts, for some reason I can be very open on a timeline.

@amit I have found writing thoughts that earlier I wouldn’t have cathartic. Perhaps the design of the medium helps.

@amit I've been making a few changes to my site today. Only cosmetic mind you. I want to replace the homepage with something a little less noisy and hide the posts behind navigation. But I need to think about it first.

Also started writing a long article about what I want to do... but didn't publish it. Will wait until after I tweaked my site. I am also quite open and don't want to share personal posts anymore. Just keep it to projects.

@vincent Yeah, I had done the same with my site sometime back. It felt good. You either visit my site directly via a post url or visit the homepage to know me. For later, the homemade does that. I am no longer comfortable with personal posts right up front. Hiding them behind navigation is a good strategy.

Also, even I stopped myself posting about the change. No one cares other than me. And it isn’t helpful for anyone either.

@amit I too struggled with personal posts. I have been blogging since 2004 and taken off many posts or made them private. But now I am getting more comfortable with posting personal stuff.

@amit something else just now:

In fact, the persistent, generous work that happens when no one is looking is what actually makes a difference.

That’s another one of Seth’s posts today.

@vincent Nice. And as always, I completely agree with Seth. Such timely reminders these.

@pratik You are one person I closely follow to see how and how much to share without feeling burdened. You have a skill, a true blogger I would say.

@sks I have never been comfortable writing them even though even I am blogging since 2007. I do write them but not post them publically.

@amit Thanks, Amit. Coming from you, that's indeed high praise. I hope to live up to your expectations in the future too.
