martinfeld.micro.blog@martinfeld How is the Keytron?
@ChrisJWilson Thank you! The vertical screen orientation is actually quite nice for word-processing.
@hiro I appreciate it! The stand is just a cheap wooden tablet stand/easel, which I bought locally from Kmart for AU$10. I have no doubt that you could buy something similar from eBay or Amazon.
@Burk Haha I’m glad that I spotted your post about it! The sound and feeling are both great. A pleasure to type with!
@tgray I’m a big fan of having the extra keys but without the numpad. Also, the screenshot button is really handy on iOS. 🙂
@martinfeld I’m envious. Mine arrived a few days ago. Can’t get Bluetooth working so have only used it plugged into my Mac. Their support email hasn’t responded. :(
@donovanwatts Ergh that’s so frustrating... I hope that they’ll deal with it soon. Have you tried any social media channels to get in touch with them?
@martinfeld I have not. I suppose I should try all my avenues. I filled out their web form now that i recall so i just now replied to my original order email. Next I’ll give Twitter a shot. I hope this doesn’t turn into a fiasco.
@donovanwatts Yes, let's hope that things are resolved through those direct channels before you have to go public...
@martinfeld yes! I wrote a post-graduate assignment last year and most of it was on an iPad, in portrait. Scrivener then Microsoft word to make sure the formatting was okay to submit.
@ChrisJWilson That’s really reassuring because I actually set this up with the intention of using it for postgraduate work. It’s a different way of working from using a Mac but I’m getting used to it. It obviously takes a bit more thinking than just casual iPad use.
@martinfeld I’ve got a very similar wooden stand that my sister found in Ikea. I too prefer portrait mode for writing, indeed for most things. Unfortunately, my keyboard (Apple wireless) has stopped working. I wonder what it would cost to ship a Keytron to Ireland.
@artkavanagh Thank you for the link; that was an interesting piece. I have always rotated the iPad given the context and app in use at the time, however it really does make sense to use the device in portrait for writing, which is what I do most of the time. Apple tried to make this point back in 2010... ha! I'm not sure how much it would cost but I'd recommend it.
