This is how I’ve been feeling more and more. My iPhone is now one of my computers; the phone part is there until I’m properly positioned (as soon as I have money; I can wait) to switch to a good, reliable mobile phone.

@JMaxB how did you come to the decision to switch from Light to a flip? (I switched to a Light this summer from a “smart” phone… curious to hear about your experience)

@JMaxB How was the web interface to sync Contacts etc? it was my 2nd choice in my quest for the non smart phone world.

@channah Jumping in here - before I got my sunbeam - I was really considering the light phone … I also tried using my apple LTE watch for 90% of my use. It worked really well - but there was still that desired to fiddle with it.
With a flip I do not fiddle with it at all. It rings. I answer. It chirps a message - I read and reply. End. I am now going to check out your blog! …

@JMaxB thanks for the feedback! @terrygrier I was looking at flip phones before I decided on the light. One thing, for me, that I was very adamant on was not wanting a camera. I couldn’t find a flip without one. I actually purchased a Mudita Pure first (top choice!) but the wait to receive the phone was long (and unknown) and I paid a pretty penny for it. Ultimately, the light had an amazing promotion running at the time, so I went with that one instead and cancelled my pure order.

@channah Excellent info. The camera thing I have not sorted out myself. The flip camera is a waste of time. I carry an older ipod touch for tickets to events and a camera at times. Not a bad little device for certain things.

@terrygrier I think rants like this are valuable exactly because they represent resistance to a massively influential element of our society. We should always question the consensus, since it is inherently powerful.

@JMaxB Ha! Yes, I’ve dodged the Wordle bug but I definitely have some uses for a personal computer in the form of a tablet/large smartphone. Apart from anything else it’s a back-up for survival in our glorious age of constant connection.
