@strandlines Another item added to the list of reasons to stop paying attention to the BBC. So very sad.

@SimonWoods it is, isn't it? I'll be interested to see if Wittertainment pops up elsewhere in due course.

@strandlines I reckon so, since Simon basically said as much. My guess is somewhere on Bauer, Acast, or doing their own thing. Hopefully there's some sort of membership attached, with Patreon or whatever; it'd be great to get extra stuff from them, specials, and so on.

@SimonWoods yep, I assumed that the thing about 'we'll be back' was not just a throwaway comment. And maybe they will have a bit more editorial freedom...?

@strandlines Looks promising so far! They're not exclusive, which was my initial worry. Interestingly this is with Sony; I already knew Somethin' Else was the production team... oh look, that's the part of Sony's podcasting business. I had no idea!

Twice weekly, according to this release by Somethin' Else. Nice!

Oh... there is some exclusivity. A special edition on Apple Podcasts. Wow they're really going for it. Maybe that's what the "twice" part means.

@SimonWoods ooh, thanks for that Simon! I've been trawling around seeing if I could find out any info, but had no luck as yet. Bit of a shame about the Apple podcasts bit, as I don't have access to that anymore.

The commercialisation of podcasts is inevitable, I guess, but I worry about the future of them in terms of exclusivity, paywalls etc.

But in the mean time, good to see there will be a continuation of Wittertainment.
