@jack I find them awful. They are not aimed at me, but I think they remind me of 1970's Holiday Inn motel bedspreads or curtains. In the genres I frequent, I can't tell you how many times good cover art has gotten me to buy a book I would otherwise pass over. And I know from my time in book store retail that books displayed cover out sell better than spine out.
@jack They all look like generative art to me. I feel in a way slapping a cover like this on a book shows a certain respect for the writers who poured a lot of themselves into the work itself, but I'm not a writer, so what do I know.
@jack I know two cover artists at major publishing houses. They’re railing about the trend which means the expiration date on that has been set.
