W: Do you know the first documented time “Google” was used as a verb?

Me: Yes, it was on Buffy the Vampire Slayer 👩🏼, Willow said it, it was in Season 7, it was in reference to the character Cassie who claimed to speak on Tara’s behalf. But I don’t remember which episode.

@kimberlyhirsh As a former Slayer fan, I am most impressed with your memory!

@kimberlyhirsh I'm kind of impressed it was so early on, but maybe I shouldn't be! "Buffy" certainly had a tendency to play around with words, and I'm pretty sure Google was dominant by the time of season 7 (time does get hazy though 🤣), so why not?

@jayeless Yes. The verbalization of nouns was definitely common on Buffy (though I'm struggling to come up with other examples right now). The episode (I looked it up & it's "Help," 7x04) aired in October 2002. I feel like Google had only recently gained search engine dominance, but who can really remember?
