Today, in Kimberly remembers that scholarly publishing is broken: lots of journals demand either full transfer of copyright or an exclusive license for the full term of copyright, without compensation to the author. Academics often don’t control our IP.

@spgreenhalgh My husband, who is the copyright & scholcomm guy at NCSU's library, told me not to accept the publisher's agreement without negotiation but also that just telling SAGE "I just want to own my intellectual property without giving you an exclusive license" with no further reason probably wouldn't lead them to amend a contract in the way I desire.
