My cheap, old 2012 mac mini seems to struggle with the 50,000+ Photos library. I don’t want to buy a new one as the current 2 TB SSD will be pricey to replicate in the M1 version!

@alexjj I've had good luck with the Samsung T5 externals. You can move the system photo library to one and save $600 compared to the M1 storage upgrade.

@alexjj Oh, that's a lovely setup. Brings back memories! I do not miss cleaning that trackball on the Mighty Mouse, though. 😊

@sod I quickly abandoned that mouse in favour of the trackpad! The wheel-ball was fun on the mouse but the rest of it was painful. The 23" cinema HD display also makes for a nice space heater.

@solomon That's a good idea, thanks. I've always been wary of external drives and mounting and the OS deciding not to mount it and subsequent screw-ups of things.
