Iā€™m seriously tempted to buy one of the do-it-yourself boards. šŸ¤¤

Orange FM is a modern cartridge for the Game Boy family of handhelds. You can think of it as a car stereo system in a cartridge, featuring digital tuning, presets, basic radio text support, and other fun features!

@sod Hope you've soldered SMDs before ;) They're a pain. My hint is to take a tiny strip of painter's tape and tape one side in place while soldering the other. Unless of course, you have one of those fancy machines to do it for you ;)

@Archimage I've hand-soldered the odd surface-mount device here and there, but never a single project with this many parts. When I design my own boards, I stick with through-hole parts whenever I can, precisely because I suck at soldering. šŸ˜‹

For this project, I would probably go the reflow route using a solder paste stencil, with a high probability of messing it up anyway. šŸ˜Š
