I've had a lot of fun the last week exploring Robin Sloan's cozy new (proposed) internet protocol, Spring '83. So many cool things are happening: poetry, link sharing, bots. And, lots and lots of experiments. Early web vibes!

Screenshot of the Spring '83 web client demo. Four HTML cards are shown: Your board, Robin's board, Ryan, and Peter. These cards have their own personal touch to them. The content and vibes differ. One is artsier, and another share links to other boards. It looks like a lot of fun!

@zioibi Implementations are already popping up, actually. 😊 If you're curious and want to look around, I'm hosting Robin's client over at https://spring-83.pages.dev/client.

Go there, and you will see a couple of boards and RSS feeds. Then add other boards or feeds you want to subscribe to by pressing esc on your keyboard.

There's nothing to download. Every change you make is stored locally in your browser.

If you want to create your own board, follow Robins instructions, but skip the first part about downloading the repository and starting a server. Instead, visit here to generate your keypair and continue from there.

Beware, though, I won't host the client forever and ever. Make sure to save backups of your keypair and Springfile for easy migration the day I decide to shut down. 😊

@zioibi I want more boarders; the more, the merrier. 🥳 So you're very welcome to mention me with any questions.

@sod I have a bit of time off next week. I might dive into this. In the discussion on Robin's site, there's a link to maya.land in which a lot of my fave projects right now are mentioned. Multiverse, Kinopio, Hot Glue, and others.

This feels like a moment, right?

@zioibi Just hours after my last message, Robin released a new version of his client and decided to host it over at followersentinel.com. My previous instructions still apply, though.

@ezellwrites Yeah, definitely feels like a moment. Dive in if you've got the time. Robin is hosting his client over at followersentinel.com, so it's easier than ever to get started.

Send me a link when your board it's up. 😉
