@smokey What diverse flowers you have. Your summer garden seems a splendid place.

@smokey I’m not one for flowers and nature much (probably due to parental pressure at a young age) but I am becoming to appreciate them later in life and these are a pretty fine spread! 😀 specially the first one, which I like.

@stickmandiaries Thanks. The first one is a “cutting” from one of my late grandmother’s African violets, that just began (re)blooming Tuesday after having a prolonged bad spell from which I was thankfully able to nurse it back. It’s actually a much paler purple/lavendar, but I still didn’t mange to get the white balance right ;-)

I didn’t dislike nature/flowers/plants when I was younger, but I definitely have grown to appreciate them much more as I have grown older 👍

@Miraz Thanks :-) I wouldn’t call it a garden in that sense of the word, as it’s neither formal nor contiguous, and some parts not even planned, but we do have various beds around the yard with flowers and plants. (Mostly, I keep photographing the same ones over and over, though ;-) ) A lot of them have come to us via the kindness of others—things we’ve rescued from my grandmother’s, and before that, things she dug for us herself, and the daylilies are almost all from a (late) neighbor of my mother’s cousin’s cabin in the NC mountains, who used to raise and sell them. Almost everything has a story, which makes it special.

@smokey I love that your plants have stories. To me a garden is a place where there are plants in the ground (or perhaps in pots or raised beds). No need to be contiguous, or formal, or even deliberately planted.
