Because I was a child when it started, I just started watching 90210 for the first time and I’m baffled that AO3 only has ONE Brandon Walsh/Dylan McKay story. Baffled, I say! What even are you, Internet?

@kimberlyhirsh Shocking! Given how huge that series was, and how long it’s been around, I would have thought there would have been at least half-a-dozen different takes on the “let’s get out of this Brenda-Dylan-Kelly-Brandon love rhombus” theme alone!

@smokey I know, right? Maybe it’s just because the show ended when web-gathered fandom was in its toddlerhood. It seems like the most obvious pairing on the show to me and now I guess I’m going to have to watch more and get good at writing it.

@kimberlyhirsh I had thought that the total time the series had been around, especially with syndication and streaming, would have allowed for many more stories, but I bet you’re right, it needed to have been airing (or connected strongly to something that was, a la Star Trek) when web-gathered fandom had reached a critical mass. 35 total stories just seems wrong for a series of that popularity and cultural impact (I myself did not watch it, but you could not escape it).

@smokey fanfiction.net has more, but still fewer than I’d expect. I think because it’s not scifi/fantasy, it wouldn’t connect with an offline fandom in the same way as your Treks and Wars, so you wouldn’t get any zines.
