I don’t understand who this mythical voter is who the GOP establishment thinks exists that votes for democrats and is mad that the VP is now running instead of the person at the top of the ticket in a primary. This feels like a completely manufactured issue.
@jsonbecker That particular argument isn’t about gaining otherwise-Democratic votes. Rather, it is about blunting the claims that Republicans are a threat to Democracy.
I expect every Republican’s talking points to add this claim. Whenever a critic points out Trump’s anti-democratic actions, the retort will be that it is the Democrats who aren’t honoring the will of the (primary) voters.
