Iron Curtain Trail Day Three π΄ββοΈπ΄π¨π¨
@esamecar Nice photos :) I love bikepacking and it's great to see the photos from your ride. Also Epic Ride Weather looks great! Are you using it to plan your rides/legs, or just to record? Curious about your experience using it.
@sherif Thanks, glad to hear π
I use Epic Weather Ride differently depending on the situation. When I ride from home, I look at the forecast for rain and temperature and especially the wind. I then might change my plans. I always find it nice to start against the wind and then come home with the wind. For longer planned trips, I choose my clothes accordingly. It's really only to weather forecast, but brilliant for that. (I know some road cyclists plan their KOM attempts with the app; but I'm too slow for that π€£). For the actual route I usually use Komoot.
@esamecar Do you use Komoot for all your route planning? I've struggled to find a tool or set of tools that make it easy to plan long bike touring or packing routes (say 100-150+km). Especially with bike infrastructure the way it is in the US it's not trivial to find the optimization of bike-friendly path or road and elevation gain. I've used Ridewithgps in the past and it's a nice route builder but but a great route recommender.
@sherif Yes, most exclusively Komoot these days. (Sometimes Strava but only for relatively short local road bike routes.)
@sherif BTW there are some open planers based on OSM, some people really like, but I donβt have the URLs at hand right now.
