What’s the preferred choice these days for a decent monitor to plug into a MacBook Pro that isn’t the apple one that requires the blood of the first born for purchase.
@JohnPhilpin I don't know if there's a preferred choice that rises above the rest that's not Apple's current display. What I can say is I got the LG 32UN880-B 32" UltraFine Display about a year or so ago and I've been happy (satisfied?) with it. It's not Retina display quality but I think nothing that's not Apple will be, and you can find it for around $500.
@JohnPhilpin let me know what you find out. I hear the Samsung S9 will be good but it’s not out yet.
