What are people using to size, optimise and bulk upload their photos to Micro.Blog for long form posts?

I’ve been using Mimi but the app is so frustrating (constant crashes with larger images, inconsistent with RAW/formatting support) that I’m just about done with it.

@DaveyCraney I use the same Mimi, but only upload jpgs, albeit somewhat large ones. Never had an issue.

@DaveyCraney You don't mention what device/OS you're using. On an iPad I use iA Writer and Shortcuts. Shortcuts is used to set image size and format save the file and copy the needed text. I then paste that into my iA Writer document and add my alt text.

iA Writer has a feature to publish to Micro.blog. When I'm ready to publish I just hit the button and all the images are uploaded and the post is published to a draft and the website is opened to that draft. I give it a look over, add categories and publish. This would also work on a Mac.

@DaveyCraney I generally do long-form on the Mac so Actions in Drafts that use Shortcuts. Mimi has never given me any issues on the phone but as @maique said, I upload only JPGs. In fact, I've mentioned to @samgrover that Mimi for Desktop would be a welcome addition.

@pratik @maique I think it’s a mixture of uploading too many images (if I go less it crashes less) and that some of my images are edited ProRaws. Mimi doesn’t support Raw but edited ProRaws have a jpeg preview that Mimi does support. But it seems certain images and certain conditions make it crash.

@Denny I’m a mix of Mac and iPad. I do use iA Writer as well. Does the shortcut you’re using set size, format AND upload to Microblog? I’d be interested to try that out!

@DaveyCraney Thank you for the feedback. I have recently adressed some memory issues in Mimi that will be available in the next beta/release. Hopefully that will address the issues you're facing with quantity and size of images. Apologies for the issues. I understand your frustration.

@DaveyCraney The shortcut currently sets the size and format and saves it to a specified folder in the iA Writer folder. IA Writer takes care of uploading the images to Micro.blog.. Shortcut is here, you'll need to adjust the save location/size/etc.

I realise I’m probably bumping up against what the app can reasonably do with the volume of images I was trying to upload as well as the sizes of them.

Your app does make formatting my posts much easier overall. Just got a bit frustrated trying to get a post uploaded today.

@Denny Can you explain where you "get" the image from? The shortcut is not appearing in my Share sheet. I had hoped it would show up in the Share Sheet in the Photos app It does show up in the Quick Actions in Finder.

@DaveyCraney I use this shortcut which will upload it to Micro.blog. You can change the format and sizing options in the shortcut or even maybe have it ask you each time.

@pratik When in Photos or Files or Mail or anywhere, if I have a photo selected and choose either the share button or share from the context menu I can select the Shortcut.
