I’ve been using NetNewsWire as a Tweetbot replacement and it’s been a fairly seamless transition (since I have no want to Tweet anymore). But I can’t shake the feeling that it’s on borrowed time and that I need to find a way to recreate what I’m getting from Twitter elsewhere.

@jordon I’m using Reeder app the same way, with the same feels.

@desparoz Reeder is my RSS app of choice, but there’s something about Twitter that I want to keep separate from RSS. That’s why I went with a totally separate app

@ryanbooker Oh yeah, I’m over on mastodon.social and loving Ivory, as well. There’s definitely a subset of what I got from Twitter that I’m getting from Mastodon and–like you said– what’s there is exciting both in content and in vibe.

My problem is that there’s a sizable portion of my Twitter follows (mainly in local and national news/politics and pop culture/sports/movies/TV) that hasn’t migrated over. Because of that, Mastodon feels incomplete to me.

Now some of that is definitely my fault: almost all of the above– especially the pop culture– can be found on Mastodon; I just haven’t taken the time to figure it out. But there’s a lot that will never be able to be replicated. I’ve got to determine what’s important to me and then figure out how to get it– be it in Mastodon or elsewhere.

@jordon Yeah. Fair enough! I was mostly following Apple tech stuff and that seems to be almost completely migrated to Mastodon.
