The more I think about it, the more willing I am to try it: build a Micro.blog theme using Claude AI. As much as I like my current theme, I want something closer to the usual “Numeric Citizen” branding.

@numericcitizen I’ve been contemplating the same thing. I want to try to merge my HeyDingus site with my MB one, and sort of merge the themes too. If you give it a shot, keep us updated!

@numericcitizen @jarrod I’m wrapping three different mb map plugins that I’ve been building with Claude, and eyeing a theme next. It’s been fun so far

@jarrod 2 of the 3 are outdoor recreation focused—right up your alley! One is similar to Google My Maps, but pins can also show photo/video/audio/posts from each waypoint. The other is .gpx Tracks version, with either waypoint markers that link to posts or media, or multiple routes on the same map.

@numericcitizen Yup. It’s 100% vibe-coded—I have no idea how to code—but I now have 3 full-featured plugins that work and do all the things I want. Quite empowering! I would’ve released them already, but I’m sick and unmotivated to pull together photo/video/gps tracks for the example site.

@rscottjones That’s pretty sweet. So it’d show photos taken along a route during a hike, for example?

@jarrod Yup. Each pin can have its own URL. Point it to a blog post, photo gallery, category, etc. Or point it to specific photo and it opens in a lightbox, swipable thru the other photos on the map. Link to video file, plays in a video lightbox. Link to audio, plays in a popup. Comes with a dozen basemap options, from street maps to topos to shaded terrain to satellite views. Also optionally displays stats (distance, gain, loss, moving time) and/or elevation profile. Fun stuff.

@rscottjones That sounds really powerful! Anywhere I can see an example?

P.S. The link to BlogPrompts.fyi on rscottjones.com actually points to a OnePhoto.club page.

@jarrod I’m putting together user docs and examples today/tomorrow, hoping to release them next week. I’ll ping you when I have some examples up.

My big goal here is to try to migrate at least a few of my outdoors/travel friends from instagram/tiktok to micro.blog, or at least to have a homebase that’s a website they own, erven if they keep distributing via a social platform. So I have a bunch of other projects in mind that I’ve been tinkering with too.

@rscottjones Nice! I’ll keep my eye out.

That’s kind of my strategy with the outdoors stuff. Post and connect with folks via Instagram, but I’ve got a Make.com workflow set to automatically crosspost from there to my Micro.blog. Best of both worlds with only a little hassle.

@jarrod adventure.micro.blog/preview/ 👀

Cool, after I get everything launched and start working on that angle, I might poke you for more intel on your workflow. Would love to offer some examples for friends on how to do it.
