Went hiking in the rain and a small creek started forming along the trail. It’s much more muddy when hiking in the rain but need to remember to still go!

@jnjosh @kurite I am looking at the Fujifilm X100V and I see some nice photos you have shot with it. How does the camera handle in terms of use and feel? Compact enough? Ever felt limited by its fixed permanent lens?

@jasonekratz I do see that it's back ordered everywhere. There are ones on Amazon for immediate purchase but they are $2k+

@pratik I really enjoy mine. The settings are truly well positioned and easy to adjust. Usually I have a general purpose film recipe loaded like Fujixweekly.com's Kodak Ultramax 400. I almost never bother with RAW and can adjust them right on the camera if I need to bring out the shadows a bit more. Focus isn't as accurate as I wish but workable with the wide range of F/#s. I wish the focus switch were a bit easier to adjust. It's fine for indoors with high ISO. That all said, it's my go to for important day to day photos around the house and for street photography when I don't want to be conspicuous. I think it is not worth paying more than MSRP though! I'd consider a new/used 100F. You won't miss much.

@kurite Thanks. This was helpful. I started out looking at the 100F but noticed that the 100V was the latest model and availability for the 100F was more spotty. However, I do want to use this camera for RAW as I feel the iPhone is not quite there yet.

@pratik makes sense! If you do decide to order it, be sure to try out the free Fujifilm XRawStudio app. It takes downloaded to Mac RAW for reprocessing using the 100V. Really handy if you want to change film recipe profiles in post or just use it like Lightroom.

@pratik oh I forgot that the flash is REALLY handy indoors especially as there’s no stabilization. Lets you use lower ISO. I really miss having a built in flash on my X-T5.

@kurite For the 100F or 100V, can we transfer the RAW photos to the iPhone on the fly using the app?

@pratik The Fujifilm Cam Remote app will only transfer JPEGs to an iPhone. As slow & unreliable as that transfer is, I don’t think anyone would have patience to transfer RAW 😄 But the app is GREAT at geotagging if you open it at the start and occasionally the rest of the day

@pratik oh and importantly that App transfer is not on the fly. Requires the camera to be in ever fickle adhoc WiFi mode

@kurite Thanks. I can live with transferred JPEGs. It's mostly to share online while traveling and not having to wait until I come home to process and then share. For most, obviously, I will wait to get home to process.

@pratik keep this link handy in case that transfer to iPhone is ornery: “How to Solve Fujifilm’s Cam Remote App Not Connecting to iPhone” I really hope Fujifilm is working on a better app.

@jnjosh Wonderful shot! It reminds me just how much I miss being able to hike in the woods.

@jasonekratz What budget are you looking at?

@jasonekratz From what I read, go ahead and order it at the site (Adorama, B&H, etc.) you find it cheapest at even if back ordered. If you are in no hurry, it’s fine if it takes longer.

@pratik I love the camera! Handles well, the film emulation is fun, and I like the 35mm focal length so don’t really struggle with it. There are times I’ve wanted a zoom but they never override the simplicity. I reach for it more than my other cameras.

@jnjosh Thanks. Did you also own the 100F? Given the limited availability, I’m trying to decide.

@pratik I also own (going to sell at some point) an X100T. I watched B&H every day until I saw the V show up, and jumped on it as soon as it was available.

@jasonekratz Ugh! We have a trip coming up exactly in two months. It would be great to get in time for that. Other option is to get a used 100F on eBay that I always feel squeamish about.

@pratik FWIW, I did my entire honeymoon with a film camera (35mm lens) and a Ricoh GR 28mm). I don’t regret it at all. Small and light wins out because you’ll take it more places, more often, most of the time. Fuji or otherwise, it’s hard to beat when you want a travel camera.

@pratik I have x100f and really thinking about an upgrade to V. Two main reasons: USB C and better lense.

@lukemperez I bet. I’ve come to believe the best camera is the one you have. For the last few vacations, I have relied on my iPhone which works for the most part. But I was still missing the RAW files created by the larger sensors. So hopefully this search checks both boxes.

@sks The USB-C is definitely a plus. The 100F unfortunately isn’t available new at any of the reputable stores.
