Today I learned that nearly all office photocopiers have internal hard-drives which store a copy of all documents scanned by the machine. Makes you think, doesn’t it. Everyone takes great pains to keep digital data encrypted and preserve privacy… Is this a known thing in I.T.?

@andrewford I just checked, I know they do - and have for quite a few years. But my boyfriend who is a programmer too didn't know (granted, it's also not part of his job to know).

@rosemaryorchard Good to know! Both that I.T. professionals are onto it, and that other people with technical know-how were also ignorant of this fact. Heh.

@andrewford I know the guys in charge of our photocopiers at work know it - because they told me about it when we were discussing how to implement a printing system for all printers. I would hope that all people in charge of printers and copiers know that.
