It’s 2020 and I’m thinking about getting into ham radio.

@emlyn This has tempted me for year, I even studied a bit, but never really pulled the trigger.

@ronguest I’m using hamstudy.org to study for the test and picked up a BaoFeng UV-5R just to listen in without a license which is apparently OK. EchoLink also seems like an easy way to connect to far away places without spending a fortune on equipment.
