@matpacker it’s hard to pick the ideal data service too I guess. They all defer from each other. Slightly
@matpacker i always found weather underground to be pretty darn good but I don’t think third party apps can pull data from them anymore. Which is a bummer because I like their data but not their official app. Dark sky can be good but there are times when it’s not as accurate.
@Gabz Last week there was one day where some apps showed forecasts for considerable rain while others predicted a nice day with sunshine. The doom and bloomers lost - it turned out to be a nice day. Since I prefer to exercise outdoors, figuring out the temp and rain forecast a day in advance is a key use case.
@ronguest @Gabz I cross-check by using the National Weather Service's web page, but I use Dark Sky as my main weather source. It's a bit inclined to over-estimate the highs and lows for the out-days, and then pull them in as the day approaches, but I find that suits me—I'm mentally prepared for the hot and cold days when they are as bad as forecast, but still well-informed as to what to wear today.
@philipbrewer @ronguest To me is like I have this one app that tells me it's going to snow all week then I opene the other one and there's only maybe two days of snow and at that point I'm like "Well, which one is it?"
@philipbrewer I do rely on the local NWS feed for major weather forecasts and events
@Gabz Haven't seen this mentioned yet, it's helpful to figure out which provider may be the most accurate for your area. www.forecastadvisor.com
