You keep your notes in too many places: twelvety.micro.blog
@twelvety when I first read the title of this post on my timeline, I thought you were yelling at me 😅. I have the same problem, sometimes I know I wrote something important down but remembering exactly where, that’s the problem.
@Gabz Ha! I'm yelling at no one but myself, but I know there are a lot of us out there with the same problem. :)
@twelvety I'm perpetually frustrated with myself for this exact problem, but can't stop trying new notes apps. Just when I thought Apple Notes was it, Agenda showed up and now I'm using it too!
@Gabz This is part of what has driven me to a) mostly “write things down” electronically and b) tightly limit the number of apps I use even at the loss of some functionality.
@ronguest right! And this is much worse with for example my blog posts. I have used so many text editors am that all my long posts are in so many different places 😩
@mroutley I could make a list of all the notes/text apps I use, and all the filesystems their files are spread across, but it would be depressing. And I'd have to decide which app to make the list in!
@ronguest I like your idea of tightly limiting the number of apps. I gravitate towards using the tool that suits that one particular note or pile of notes the best for whatever narrow purpose is needed, but that inevitably splinters into too many things and too much mental overhead about where I keep stuff. And then I try to do a search for that one nugget I saved years ago, and come up empty, and I know I wrote down whatever thought somewhere.
@Gabz Oh boy. My Drafts app is in full competition with nvALT/Dropbox for which has the most half-finished (or sometimes finished) blog posts in it.
