Our 19 year old daughter’s boyfriend is taking her to a fancy restaurant for dinner tonight. He bought a tie to wear and just came to ask me to teach him how to tie a tie. It’s been so long since I wore one I was nearly in a panic. But I went in front of a mirror and fortunately muscle memory took over. Whew!

@ronguest I've tried tying ties on other people and my hands just get confused. I almost miss the routine of tying a tie for school. Almost.

@ChrisJWilson @ronguest because we’re in the UK, my wife and I have both needed to keep the skill alive. We’re working on teaching our 7-year-old to tie his own tie now so we’ll see how long it stays.

@danalcantara @ronguest every time I tie a tie now, I go to this web page from the art of manliness and try a new variant.

@ChrisJWilson For expediency last night I tied one loosely around my neck then slipped it over his head and showed him how to neaten it up. A full lesson will take some time in the future

@danalcantara Our 15 year old son has yet to wear a tie. Maybe for his senior prom? Or maybe never.
