A new IT guy in my wife’s office near downtown Austin quit after 2 days coz…the commute was too long. Wouldn’t he have known that before he accepted the job? And if he didn’t, was 2 days long enough to know?

@pratik My guess is that his interview was during in the middle of the day, so he was not dealing with rush hour traffic. When he started the job he quickly realized that going to work during rush hour was going to take a lot longer. Of course if he had thought about he would have figured it out

@klandwehr I guess so. The department was offering flex hours. Anyway I just found it baffling. Maybe they were other reasons 🤷🏽‍♂️

@pratik I suspect there might be some other unspoken reasons

@JohnPhilpin Yeah, I just feel bad for the guy holding the job currently as he’s eager to retire but doesn’t want to leave the department hanging.

@pratik That’s bizarre. But could easily be for the best if he either didn’t check on the commute before interviewing and accepting or was so undecided about the position as to flip on accepting.
