More on Austin housing market. Either realtors have no idea how to gauge current demand and list at appropriate prices or something crazy is going on. 🏠

@pratik IDK, maybe trying to amp people up to list and sell their houses? Around here very few homes have been going up for sale. All homes that are for sale are Pending except one which has only been listed for 2 days.

@ronguest my wife (she’s listed first on our deed) got a random text from a supposed realtor asking if we’re interested in selling. I was like, and live where?

@pratik covid distorted the housing market: supply vanished as folks pulled listings or decided not to sell, demand skyrocketed as those needing a home (which remained constant) were joined by all those fleeing cities for suburbs and expensive states for cheaper ones. My wife and I bought a home last summer and already have offers 70k over what we paid last year. It won’t last, obviously, but realtors are trying to sell homes as fast as they can right now while it lasts.
